COVID-19 Updates & Resources
As the Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, continues to spread throughout the world, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has stated that it is likely that there will be an increase in the number of cases in the United States. Sound precautions and common sense will go a long way to mitigate the effects of an outbreak. To that end, a variety of local, state and federal agencies have issued guidance regarding COVID-19. If an outbreak does occur, the larger issue for schools is going to be determining when or if it is appropriate to cancel school for any length of time in order to mitigate continued spread of the virus. It is prudent at this point to review Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP) and plans for Flexible Instruction Days, if your school district is approved to offer this alternative.
This information is offered for precautionary and preparedness purposes. For additional questions specific for COVID-19, please contact the Allegheny County Health Department at 412-687-ACHD or 412-687-2243.
