    Principal's Message

    Dear Pathfinder School Families,

It is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for the 2021-22 school year!

As you are all aware, the AIU's special education programs will continue to operate in person, Monday through Friday. Although COVID presented some challenges to the day-to-day operations of our schools last year, we have learned from those experiences. We are hopeful that the knowledge we gained will help us navigate through this new chapter of the pandemic with less disruptions to your child’s educational program.

Prior to the pandemic, the Pathfinder staff was working together as a team on embedding the PA Career Readiness (PA CRS) into their daily instruction. The PA CRS are social emotional learning progressions that support the development of student competence. The continuum was designed to empower students to successfully navigate relationships within their family, school, and post-secondary programs. This year the staff will continue their work in this area with instruction designed to focus on self-awareness, self-management, establishing and maintaining relationships, and social problem solving skills.

If you have any questions about this initiative, please feel free to contact me by phone at 412-833-2777 or by email at We will also be talking to parents about the PA CRS in more detail at our in-person Open House, which will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 29 from 5-7 PM.

We are looking forward to a great school year and hope to reconnect with all of you again soon! In the meantime, please stay safe.
